Reed comes to Fusion Ventures with a background
in Investment Banking and Mathematics. With Lehman Brothers in New York and
Prudential Securities in London, Reed developed and executed merger and
acquisition and other investment banking transactions for clients from Alabama
to Australia. Technology based clients included Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken,
Siemens AG, Westinghouse, Inc., and Nokia OY. Reed left investment banking to
pursue research interests in Mathematics at Oxford and came to the Research
Triangle area to take a post-doc position in the Mathematics Department at Duke
University. Among his other interests are music (while in England, Reed started
a company to produce recordings of classical music), history of science (he
published a book on the history of mathematics and continues to write and
publish in this area) and astronomy (particularly telescope building). Reed has
a BA from the University of Chicago and a JD/MBA from the University of
Pennsylvania Law School and the Wharton School.
