Opening Reception
The conference kicked off on Sunday, April 1, with an evening reception
to welcome attendees to Seattle and to give everyone a chance to network

and services incubator managers might use to improve their programs.

NBIA Bookstore
NBIA’s on-site bookstore gave attendees the opportunity to browse
and purchase from a selection of more than 75 titles on business incubation,
entrepreneurship, economic development and more. The bookstore also
hosted two book signings during the conference. (more…)
Keynote Presentations
Keynote speakers shared their expertise and insights with the audience
in three plenary sessions. This year’s speakers included Kathy
Wilcox, former president & CEO of WSA (formerly Washington Software
Alliance); Glen Hiemstra, founder of Futurist.com; and Jeff Brotman,
co-founder of the Costco Wholesale Corp. Please note: the conference
photographer left early Wednesday morning, so unfortunately we do not

Conference Sessions
One of the primary goals of the conference is to bring attendees new
ideas and information, so the event featured more than 60 educational

The Accelerator Tour and Reception
The Accelerator, a privately held biotechnology investment and development
company providing critical resources for start-up companies developing
life-enhancing technologies, hosted a tour of its facility and a reception

NBIA Awards Luncheon
Every year, NBIA honors outstanding incubation programs, clients and
graduates who have demonstrated incubation's impact making significant
contributions to the communities, their economies and their industries.

International Reception
Attendees from around the world brought posters to display during Tuesday
evening’s reception, allowing others to learn about incubation
in their regions. The reception also gave everyone a chance to relax,
enjoy some tasty hors d’oeuvres and chat with colleagues after

Silent Auction
For the second year in a row, NBIA held a silent auction to raise money
for first-time attendee scholarships. Participants honed their eBay
skills on a broad range of items donated by individuals and programs
