Building on Best Practices
NBIA’s 23rd International Conference on Business Incubation was held April 19-22 in Kansas City, Mo. The conference featured sessions on incubator sustainability, new federal policies relating to incubators, client coaching, client selection policies and more. The top economic development and incubation professionals in the world presented ideas and advice to attendees from a variety of experience levels – from individuals just exploring incubator development to advanced incubation professionals who have attended NBIA’s conferences for years.
Highlights of the conference included:
- The Wednesday morning breakfast conversation with Dinah Adkins, NBIA’s retiring president and CEO
- Tours of the Arts Incubator of Kansas City and the Enterprise Center of Johnson County
- Keynote addresses featuring Carl Schramm, president and CEO of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, and Esther George, executive vice president of the Supervision and Risk Management Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City
We hope the conference was a valuable experience for all who attended. NBIA staff enjoyed seeing all who were there and meeting our first-time attendees. Thank you to our board members, sponsors, keynote speakers, session speakers and moderators, and our host, the Enterprise Center of Johnson County. We greatly appreciate your contributions to the conference.
A highlight of this year's conference was a keynote address from Carl Schramm, president and CEO of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, about the state of entrepreneurship. Click here for an online video of his speech.
