Riding the Wave of Innovation

NBIA's 25th International Conference on Business Incubation was held April 10-13, 2011, in San Jose, Calif. The event featured sessions on the future of the industry, best practices in incubation, coaching clients, helping entrepreneurs find investors and much more. Incubation and economic development professionals from around the world gathered to learn, share ideas, network with colleagues and have a little fun.
Highlights of the conference included:
- Tours of the Plug and Play Tech Center, the Environmental Business Cluster and the San Jose Biocenter
- Keynote addresses by Thomas Guevara, deputy assistant secretary for regional affairs for the U.S. Economic Development Administration; Robert Shelton, director of the global growth and innovation practice at PRTM Management Consultants and co-author of Making Innovation Work; and Tim Brown, CEO and president of IDEO
- The opportunity to network with peers, especially through the Opening Reception and NBIA Expo, Tech Museum Reception and Vendor Mixer
- NBIA's annual awards luncheon
