Free Webinar: U.S. Equity Crowdfunding Activity

Thursday, March 14, 2 p.m. EDT

This Webinar, hosted by NBIA Partner EquityNet, will provide new insights into the emerging U.S. crowdfunding industry and present some of the first statistics and trends available on more than 1,000 businesses that have used equity crowdfunding.

Among other statistics presented and analyzed are:

  • Consumer and business product/service companies account for more than 40 percent of equity crowdfunding activity. These are industries that were previously underserved by traditional venture capital.
  • Around 50 percent of businesses that use equity crowdfunding seek less than $500,000 in investment capital.
  • Valuations vary widely in equity crowdfunding, with around 40 percent of pre-money valuations being under $1 million.
  • Approximately 70 percent of businesses seeking equity crowdfunding had no revenue in the previous year, but 75 percent of those businesses expect to generate revenue in their current fiscal year, indicating that the majority are at the revenue-inflection point.
  • About 15 percent of businesses seeking funding are currently profitable, and 90 percent of the remainder predict they will be profitable in three years or less.
  • Approximately 30 percent of the businesses in the sample have patents or patent applications for proprietary technology.

Presenter: Judd Hollas, founder and CEO, EquityNet
