This position assumes the leadership of and responsibility for issues related to the university’s role in local, regional and national economic development. The Director will be engaged at the national level to establish an agenda and implementation strategy for economic development at this institute of higher education. The Director will serve as the portal for access and information concerning economic development and will be the university’s voice and face of economic development throughout the state and nation. The position will manage the personnel, facilitates and operations of Insight Park® a newly constructed, $20 million facility housing a 12,000 ft2 business incubator and 50,000 ft2 of enclosed office and laboratory space available for research park tenants.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Public or Business Administration, Economics, Organizational Planning, or closely-related field with certification as an economic development professional or equivalent; and a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

The Accelerator Director will have the responsibility for strategic development of the accelerator, management of the mentor pool, and the day-to-day operational management of the accelerator and associated facilities and will have responsibility for the administration of the finances. The Director will plan and coordinate interactions between accelerator clients and potential investors. The Director will report to the accelerator's Board of Directors and the Principal Investigator.
Undergraduate degree (BS/BA) plus MBA or equivalent and five years of experience in a for-profit business organization with experience training, coaching and mentoring entrepreneurs and a proven ability to develop effective networks, partnerships and alliances across the region is required.
