Policy Confusion Hinders Manufacturing Sector, New Report
Policymakers in the U.S. seem confused as to the health and direction of the manufacturing sector, according to a report from the Council on Competitiveness, a nonpartisan, nongovernment organization focused on public policy solutions.
In Make: An American Manufacturing Movement, the organization says government agency officials and lawmakers are receiving conflicting information on the status of manufacturing and what can be done to reinvigorate it. The report suggests areas where action could lead to a more robust manufacturing industry in the U.S., including fiscal reform, opening of international markets, more support of research and development, the creation of national industrial networks, and the provision of reliable, reasonably priced energy.
