CBI Announces

New Business Joins Cincinnati Incubator

Cincinnati, Ohio - September 22, 2003 - Malone Jani-King Franchise, a growing franchisee in the local area, announced that it was becoming an affiliate member of the Cincinnati Business Incubator (CBI). CBI exists to support the small business community by providing management resources and support networks that enable new and existing businesses to maintain and grow their profits.

As a CBI member, Malone Jani-King Franchise gains access to a wide range of services including meeting space, administrative support, telephone answering services and nurturing guidance focused on improving profitability in CBI's 40,000-square-foot offices on Central Parkway north of Liberty Street. Malone Jani- King Franchise is looking to expand its business with the strong networks that CBI brings to the table with the Cincinnati Empowerment Zone and others in the community.

"We are proud of our new association with CBI. We have grown our business significantly over the past few years with our commitment to quality both with customers and employees. As we enter our next phase of focused growth, we believe CBI offers infrastructure and resources that enable us to optimize our growth and development while continuing our very important quality focus, "said Rodney Malone, CEO & co-owner (along with his wife, Laurie) of the Malone Jani-King Franchise.

Malone continued, "The CBI staff's professionalism, vision and warmth translate into an excellent venue to work with a strategic thinking partner. We are proud to be associated with the CBI Team."

CBI Supports Low-Tech Economic Development

"One area of growth that women and people of color should aggressively explore is with franchises," said CBI president Wayne Hicks. "The Malone Jani-King Franchise represents one of the largest Jani-King commercial cleaning franchises in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky with more than 28 employees and has grown more than 100% in gross revenues over the past year. Rodney Malone is a role model for other potential entrepreneurs in the area. He has a powerful story to share and we're glad that CBI is in position to help him and his company".

Hicks became the president/CEO of CBI about four months ago. He is working hard with the rest of the CBI staff to identify funding to keep CBI operational in 2004. Currently, funding for CBI is provided by the City of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Empowerment Zone and the Small Business Administration. Anyone with fundraising ideas is invited to contact Mr. Hicks.

CBI Empowers Women- and Minority-Owned Businesses

CBI is the only local business incubator that focuses on the needs of small businesses located in the Empowerment Zone. We're a dynamic, self-empowering organization created to help people help themselves, particularly those women and people of color who own a small business or are considering taking the entrepreneurial plunge. Our current focus is with businesses in the nine neighborhoods of Avondale, Corryville, Evanston, Fairview/Clifton Heights, Mount Auburn, Over-the-Rhine, Queensgate, Walnut Hills and the West End.

No other incubator shares our focus, to help women and minorities open a business and run it successfully within Cincinnati's urban neighborhoods. The environment and the challenges are unique. The solutions aren't magic. They emanate from experience. Give us a call and see how we can help you as well.
