Business Incubator Manager – Grand Valley State University is accepting applications for the position of Business Incubator Manager for Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center (MAREC).  This is a grant funded position with funding expected to be available for two years. Plymouth State University

Plymouth State University’s College of Business Administration, an ACBSP accredited program, seeks an experienced business professional who will be responsible for leading and operating the Enterprise Center at Plymouth (ECP); a 10,000 sq ft business incubator located in downtown Plymouth, NH.  The Enterprise Center opened its doors in 2013 and is a partnership between Plymouth State University (PSU) and the Grafton County Economic Development Council (GCEDC). In addition to providing programmatic, administrative oversight and mentoring tenants of the ECP, the Executive Director must be passionate about integrating the center into students' academic experiences in collaboration with fellow faculty in the College of Business Administration (CoBA). We're looking for a candidate who is ready to 'roll up their shirt-sleeves' and dedicate themselves to the stewardship of this mission-driven partnership. The successful candidate will need to bring an entrepreneurial attitude (and experience), tenacity and extraordinary communication and project management skills. 

The position requires a Master’s degree (MBA preferred), minimum of five years experience in business ownership or management and the ability to provide comprehensive business assistance services to start-up businesses to enable them to grow and succeed.

Assistant Director, East Tennessee State University Innovation Lab

The ETSU Innovation Lab, a high-tech business incubator, is accepting applications for an Assistant Director. They will be responsible to and assist the Director in: the recruitment of clients and the day-to-day operations of the facility; helping client companies with business and strategic plans; promoting entrepreneurship within the extended region by organizing programs and networking events to nurture start up clients; promoting our International Soft Landings Program; collaborating with key Soft Landings stakeholders; identifying ETSU faculty to partner with clients; the preparation of funding proposal the execution of funded projects; performing other related duties.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in a business, scientific, high technology, information technology, biomedical or engineering discipline. MBA preferred. One to three years of experience working in the private sector and managing projects for a high technology, information technology, biomedical technology or engineering company preferred. A demonstrable record of a high degree of personal integrity and excellent communication skills preferred. Client Support Administrator and Strategist

Oakland University in Rochester, MI, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Client Support Administrator and Strategist for the Macomb SmartZone.

Under the direction of the Executive and Assistant Director of the Macomb-Oakland University INCubator, conduct all primary client interfacing activity serving as the gatekeeper to company engagements. Function as the primary clients-support provider to all Michigan Strategic Fund sponsored programs including the Business Accelerator Fund, Michigan Pre-seed Fund 2.0 and others which support university and venture capital activities. Assist with client identification and attraction as well as navigation through the established entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of five years management experience working with technology businesses and start-ups.
  • Experience working in/with Michigan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public program administration related to small-business development, venture-capital funding and early-stage venture and technology assessment.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others (oral and written).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a highly interactive environment.
  • Ability to devise and deliver public presentations.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office.

 Desired Qualifications:

  •  Master’s degree with engineering/technology focus.
  • Experience in a technology business and/or start-up, preferably in venture development.
  • Familiarity with CRM tool, Salesforce.
  • Prior knowledge of Michigan-based entrepreneurial support tools and ecosystem.

 Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion.

This is a full time position.  Salary is up to the mid $80’s annually.  Compensation commensurate with education and experience.

Incubator Manager Needed

The Ethiopia Climate Innovation Center (ECIC) is a clean/green technology incubation program sponsored by the World Bank. ECIC is presently accepting CV’s from qualified candidates with 8+ years of progressive responsibility in business incubation or related programs on a one-year contract assignment. This is a full time position working directly for the CEO of ECIC, the person hired will manage the operations of the incubation program to include directing the activities of two business counselors using Growth Wheel and Lean Start-up Techniques in guiding our 40+ clients in commercializing their innovations, and other tasks related to training, and operations. Experience with Growth Wheel and incuTrack will be a plus. Living and working in Ethiopia will be a rewarding and interesting experience.

New Business Incubator desires to hire Manager/Director.

Responsible for creating and implementing strategies to successfully grow incubation facilities and support growth of companies in the Business Incubator. Manager is responsible for day-to-day operational management. Represent the Program to constituents that are involved in technology commercialization, entrepreneurship and economic development. Education & Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, minimum of five years administrative experience, written and verbal communication skills, budgeting/financial management skills, experience with technology commercialization, startup company management, venture capital funding, and fund raising. Knowledge of business incubation/technology commercialization. Must understand startup company financing.
