Director of Business Incubation
The Office of Innovation and Economic Development is looking for a dynamic and creative individual to lead and organize business incubation activities for the University of Maine.
The Director of Business Incubation is responsible developing and implementing business incubation, business advising and entrepreneur trainingfor the Target Technology Incubator and Foster Center for Student Innovation as well as at locations supported by UMaine across the state. The director provides a high level of business coaching for new and seasoned entrepreneurs,building teams of mentors, resource providers and experts to support entrepreneurs.
The ideal candidate will be able to engage both students and experienced entrepreneurs and will have experience as an entrepreneur or in coaching people with innovative businesses or projects. The candidate should have excellent problem solving and communication skills and embrace working in a fast-paced, innovative work environment.

The Research Valley Innovation Center (RVIC) is a 501c(3) not for profit corporation established exclusively for the purposes of the advancement of science, broadening the technology base of the Research Valley, and having global impact. The RVIC is a science and technology focused incubator/accelarator innovation center established to promote innovation economic development in The Research Valley.
The President and CEO's primary responsibilities are: a) member/client services; and b) support the operational and strategic management of the RVIC. The position is responsible for ensuring the programs and services are run to maximize impact, following global best practices, all the while operating in a sustainable way.
Applicants should have practical experience of start-ups and early stage business in a commercial environment. The candidate will need to have excellent communications skills and be proficient at business development, marketing, fund raising and events management. Successful project development and business incubator/accelerator management experience is essential. The President and CEO reports directly to the RVIC’s Board of Directors.
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to present on how they would further advance the RVIC leveraging off key stakeholders such as The Research Valley Partnership, Inc. and its Texas A&M University System partners headquartered in Bryan-College Station.
