Less than two years after moving its headquarters to Baltimore’s Emerging Technology Centers, Millennial Media has become one of the nation’s leading mobile advertising companies. And now, company officials have expanded the organization internationally. "There is tremendous growth opportunity for mobile advertising on a global basis, as evidenced by a rich and active mobile direct marketing industry as well as surging demand from top brand advertisers," says Paul Palmieri, president and CEO of Millennial Media. Incubator role: When Millennial Media joined ETC, the company had just four employees. Now, the firm employs 45 full-time workers. "From day one, the ETC staff has gone out of its way to accommodate us and not only help &mdash but make it easy &mdash to grow," Palmieri says. "They’ve made sure we’re never without appropriate work space, with all the needed resources." In fact, ETC even vacated its own suite temporarily to make room. The incubator also has provided the firm with needed small business assistance and public relations support to encourage further expansion. With ETC’s help, Millennial Media was named Maryland Incubator Company of the Year in May 2007.
