Rhythm Engineering empowers traffic engineers to save lives, time and the environment through cost-effective, innovative traffic solutions. The firm’s flagship product, InSync, is a real-time adaptive traffic control system that enables traffic signals to immediately adapt to traffic demand, reducing accidents up to 30 percent, cutting travel times up to 50 percent and reducing fuel consumption and emissions by 20 percent to 30 percent. Sold to city, county and state governments, the product is being used at 700 intersections in 19 states. Rhythm Engineering’s team has a background in traffic and transportation engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, wireless communications, Ethernet networking, traffic management center design/deployment/operations, traffic control hardware and software, and system integration. In 2010, the firm received the Kansas Governor’s Energy Efficiency Recognition Award.
Incubator’s role: Rhythm Engineering entered the Enterprise Center of Johnson County in 2006 and graduated in 2009. During that time, ECJC connected the company to investors and advised on hiring, employee placement and how to create the right company culture. As a result, the company grew quickly, moving to a larger area within the incubator four times. “ECJC was a catalyst for our rapid growth, landing Rhythm Engineering on the Inc. 500 list as the 64th fastest-growing private company in the U.S. in 2011,” says Dr. Reggie Chandra, founder and CEO. “We are making a real difference for millions of Americans, and it all started with the help of ECJC’s business incubation program.”
